He is a Worcester Bosch Accredited Installer and fits other makes on request. He surveys the house, says which type fits it, and does the fitting and the wiring himself.

Ian gives you both prices. If the old boiler is worth fixing, he says so.
When a boiler is coming to the end
None of these on its own means a new boiler. Two or three together usually do.
- Repairs every winterOnce the yearly repair bill is a large share of a new boiler, the money is better spent on the replacement.
- Parts are hard to getManufacturers stop making parts for older models. A boiler that can't be repaired the day it fails leaves you cold for longer.
- Yellow or lazy flameA gas flame should burn blue and steady. Yellow or sooty is a combustion problem that needs looking at straight away.
- Bills going upAn old non-condensing boiler wastes a large share of the gas it burns. A modern condensing boiler recovers most of that.
- Noise, smell or leaksKettling, a smell from the case or water underneath. Repairable in many cases, but on an old boiler they arrive together.
From survey to switch-on
Survey
Ian looks at the boiler, the flue route, the pipework, the radiators and how you use hot water, and says which type suits the house.
Quote
A written quote for the boiler and the fitting, covering everything from the old boiler going out to the warranty being registered, so you can compare it like for like with any other.
Fitting
The old boiler out and taken away, the new one in with a magnetic filter and controls, the system cleaned, filled and commissioned. A like for like swap is normally done in a day.
Registration
The installation is registered with the manufacturer for the warranty and notified to Gas Safe. You are left with the completed Benchmark logbook and the warranty details, and the Building Regulations certificate follows from Gas Safe.

Most homes with one bathroom suit a combi, which heats water as you use it and needs no cylinder or tanks. Two bathrooms in use at the same time usually means a system boiler with an unvented cylinder, so two showers can run at once.
A regular boiler with tanks in the loft is usually only fitted as a like for like swap in an older house, or where the mains pressure is too low for anything else. Ian will say which one fits when he visits.
